In a heartwarming gesture, Phil, a devoted boxing enthusiast and Director of Heeney Civils Ltd, has made a significant donation along with signed merchandise from Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton (Former Unified Light-Welterweight World Champion) to Rock Steady Boxing Widnes and Warrington, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s disease through specialized boxing training. Phil’s contribution underscores his deep connection to the sport and his commitment to supporting innovative health programs.
Rock Steady Boxing, founded in 2006 and based in Indianapolis, has pioneered a unique approach to managing Parkinson’s disease. Their non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness routines have shown remarkable results in enhancing the physical and mental well-being of participants. The program focuses on improving balance, strength, flexibility, and cognitive function through exercises that target the neurological deficits caused by Parkinson’s.
Phil’s donation will help expand Rock Steady Boxing’s reach, allowing more people with Parkinson’s to benefit from their programs. This funding is crucial for training new coaches and establishing new locations, ensuring that the life-changing benefits of Rock Steady Boxing are accessible to communities around the globe.
“Boxing has always been a part of my life, and I am thrilled to support an organization that uses this sport to bring hope and health to those battling Parkinson’s,” said Phil. “Rock Steady Boxing’s innovative approach is making a real difference, and I am proud to contribute to their mission.”
The impact of Rock Steady Boxing extends beyond the gym. Their participants often report improved quality of life, greater independence, and a renewed sense of purpose and community. Studies have validated the benefits of their rigorous exercise routines, showing that consistent training can slow the progression of Parkinson’s symptoms and enhance overall fitness.
Phil’s donation helped to achieve £1,000, and the Ricky Hatton signed merchandise was used in an auction to raise funds for Rock Steady Boxing and helped to raise a further £1,500!
This will directly support the training of new coaches, the development of additional programs, and the dissemination of vital information and resources to people affected by Parkinson’s. This contribution reflects a broader commitment to fostering health and wellness through the power of sport and community.
