1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the construction industry?
What initially inspired me was watching my father run a construction company since a young age, I have always been intrigued with the busy nature and urgency within the industry. I enjoy finding solutions to the many hurdles that can arise – including sourcing labour, planning scopes of works, arranging plant and materials. However, I mostly enjoy the rewards that come with the industry, such as winning new contracts/tenders and being able to provide work for operatives.
2. How do you plan to leverage your management experience in your new role?
I have worked in management roles in the construction industry since the start of my career aged 17.
I will apply my experience in strategic panning that aligns with the organisational goals, ensuring all team efforts are focused and effective. I will identify any areas for efficiency improvements, implementing best practices to enhance workflows.
I aim to provide an approachable nature to my team, but also to show that it is imperative in this industry to be time sensitive and to be working at a high standard within all work tasks carried out.
3. What excites you the most about joining Heeney Civils?
I am looking forward to joining a recruitment company that works slightly different to your standard agency. Heeney’s specialise in construction recruitment and are extremely involved in the running and management of the operatives. They also work closely with their clients and show a high commitment to continuous improvement.
4. Can you share a memorable project or accomplishment from your career so far?
I have many memorable and great memories of all aspects of working within construction, including, costing and winning contracts, gaining companies new clients and accreditations, supporting my team and progressing them in their career. My own biggest accomplishment is passing my AAT and also becoming successful in achieving my dream career of working within management in a construction based company.
5. What are your goals for the office and the team moving forward?
My goal is to focus on delivering an expectational service and to build strong relationships with clients to enhance satisfaction. To identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and enhance productivity. My goal for my team is to encourage a mindset of innovation, where my team feel empowered to share ideas and adopt new approaches to work tasks. I plan to be a present manager to the office team, to work along side them and drive high standards of work output.
