Encouraging more people to cycle is increasingly being seen as a vital part of any local authority plan to tackle congestion, improve airquality, promote physical activity and improve accessibility. The works in the main contract are the creation of new shared pedestrian/cycle facilities around M53 Junction 5. The works involve widening the existing footways around the roundabout to join both northbound and southbound A41 to the north and south of the junction with an off-carriageway 3m shared cycleway.
The scheme will consist of:
Installation of new tactile paving, Installation of traffic management and site facilities as required, new footway construction and resurfacing of existing footway, Kerb construction and replacement of existing kerbs, installation of road markings and studs, replacement and renewal of existing signs, installation of new signs, replacement of and refurbishment of street lighting feeder pillars, replacement of street lighting columns and electrical supply cables, relocation of an existing traffic signal and landscaping works and vegetation clearance.
Heeney Work Scope:
provision of skilled labour, Flaggers, experienced Groundworkers and Gangers.
